You mean USPS? It’s illegal for UPS to use your mailbox.
Could’ve been UPS using USPS for last-mile delivery. The OP is also from feddit.de so maybe they’re not in the US.

UPS committed a federal crime, only USPS is allowed to use your mailbox, nobody else.
