No, I’m not saying all modern music is awful, but majority of the music that gets trending is terrible. Yet another girl that twerks for 3 minutes with a trap beat or some crappy awful rap song. Or Ariana Grande talking about another break up in the most boring cliché way possible. I guess since music is easier than ever to produce, now any clown can call themselves an artist.
Just keep in mind… The trending music in past decades was MJ, Madonna, Cindy Lauper, Cher, many, MANY decent to great rock bands and ballads. And I’m not forgetting the rap, rnb and hip hop, 2pac, salt n Peppa, en vogue, NWA, Biggie… There’s an objective quality in these artist missing in majority of modern acts.
Hell, I would argue that decent artists from the 2010s like Taylor swift and Drake are getting lazy with their music as well, their songs being more focused on following those trending kids with awful music.
I’m fucking old dude. I’m well aware enough of MJ “being an alien” “sleeping in a capsule” and Madonna “erotica”. Since when I said kids can’t listen their music? Or that they need to need off my lawn, metaphorically? I’m just saying popular music mostly sucks nowadays and I explained why
But you didn’t explain why you don’t like it, just that you don’t. You expressed your opinion that it’s too easy to produce and that you’re uncomfortable with twerking; both things that have nothing to do with the quality of the music.
Go out into the wilds of the internet, and by that I mean like a 2 second search on YouTube, to find music you do like. It does you no harm that someone else out there enjoys Taylor Swift.
When young people say “ok, boomer” at us old people, this is what they’re talking about.
And they’re stupid if they say that. I already explained why, popular trending music is objectively trash 9/10 of the time. Low effort, people can’t sing or perform anymore, awful lyrics that seems it came from a kid rhymes book with swearing on top.
Then find some music you do like? For real, in the time it’s taken you to write the post and comments, you could have discovered three new bands. I’m not sure what conversation you were hoping for in this thread.
If you want some music recs, that might be a more useful conversation thread for you rather than whatever this is.
