What passing-bells for these who die as cattle?

ā€” Only the monstrous anger of the guns.

Only the stuttering riflesā€™ rapid rattle

Can patter out their hasty orisonsā€¦

ā€“ Wilfred Owen

Hemmingway didnā€™t do any of the things he said he did- or rather, paid people to take him there and show him things. He certainly wasnā€™t a skilled hunter, and heā€™ll was a merely adequate writer.

Which is why all the good bits were shadow written

Which, I canā€™t really disagree with your statement. Tuberville is that useless, after all.

Iā€™ve seen and heard nothing about Hemingway having a shadow writer? He was certainly a drunk and not entirely a good person, even for his time.

Never heard that about Hemingway, but I have heard that about Tennessee Williams. Maybe theyā€™re confusing the two?

Wait until you find out who shakespearā€™s shadow writer was.

Itā€™s actually historically very common. Most of the ā€œclassicsā€ had them.

Did Hemmingway write 100% accurate biographical accounts of his experiences? No. He was a fiction writer who self promoted and built a brand.

To each is own. Iā€™m not a huge fan, but heā€™s hardly the first writer to build his own ethos.
