From personal experience, it add up: just right wing racist people
At 19 I worked IT at a local shelter and the administration was so psychotic I cried in the bus to work.
I quit volunteering at the dog shelter because of the shitty attitude of the mid level employees.
I don’t really want to go on a rant here but id say that yes, both rescues and shelters can have a problem. There are also some that dont. From my experience i don’t see much right vs left politics at play.
Biggest thing imo would be to just vet any rescues you adopt from. Rescues may have received money to pull an animal from a shelter. Make sure they are giving updates on animals under their care. If they aren’t doing that then be very skeptical.
i should not read this first thing in the morning must go adopt all the cats from horrible people
I think those people love cat… but hate human
So some random reddit thread is gospel truth now?
It’s not really random. It’s on a sub dedicated to animal shelters where only flaired users can reply. I don’t know how they vet (no pun intended) their users but 5-10 years ago, this meant something.
I missed the part where the article said that it was gospel truth. Can you point it out to me?
