Uh huh. And refrigeration has robbed everyone of essential food preservation knowledge.

Automation does that. Whether it’s a bad thing depends upon many factors.

Current frontier models aren’t guaranteed to last. Commoditization is coming and democritization with it.

This headline is summarizing something that I’ve come to realize over the last year. Discomfort is ok. It helps us grow. In my case: comfort leads to complacency, and complacency leads to stagnation. It’s a good idea in my case to reject just a bit of modernity.

That also can lead to different conclusions. It’s like half a year of me using MacOS instead of Linux or FreeBSD with FVWM and everything set up how I want it. It’s inconvenient and not customizable, but at the same time I’ve had a bit of progress with hobby projects.

I want to climb Everest, but it’s so much work. I’ll add my name to the ranks of the greats by taking a helicopter.

The real dystopia isn’t AI becoming smarter than us. It’s AI doing the thinking and writing while humans are left solving CAPTCHAs to prove we’re still human. We’ve automated curiosity but somehow kept the cookie banners. Truly a golden age of efficiency.

Most of your comments try to mix witty remarks based on the contents of the associated article in a way that reeks of AI.

Of course it reeks of AI. We all write like AI now. Half the internet sounds like a chatbot trying to pass as human, and the other half is humans desperately trying to sound like chatbots. At this point, sounding natural is probably the biggest giveaway that you’re a bot.

You forgot the other bit: the people who already wrote like that, and AI learned to mimic their style.

Exactly. AI didn’t invent that style. It learned it from humans. The real tragedy is that those people can now be replaced by a machine, and nobody notices the difference.

Great deflection, chatgipity. You don’t sound natural, that’s the thing. And I’m not going to pinpoint what it is because that just helps your AI or whatever prompts you’re using to craft your comments.

It’s only a matter of time before AI bots learn to wriye intentional tyops and shifty autocorrect just to appear more human
