But still, all that was done through political ads and algorithm changes, and I literally haven’t seen any ad in years, and so far Lemmy’s algorithm is very transparent.

Yes, but compared to what humans later will see, that is very little.

Sure, but what they’re gonna do with that is the question. Like even if there is a profile on my Lemmy account, which ads are they going to send me? How? Where is that data going to be worth anything?

You do know that until 2100, there is still very little effect of climate change?
The actual timescale for most of the effects is in the span of hundreds of years. Because the catastrophic effects are so far in the future is why people do so little about it.

I mean… obviously it won’t make the whole planet inhabitable, but billions will die when 90% of the planet is inhabitable. The last of which might be wiped out when the world fights over access to those remaining 10%.

It’s basically by default in Germany if the worker did nothing malicious. So the burden of proof was on them to prove I did something malicious, which they could not.
It’s one of the cheapest ways to get rid of an employee you don’t like. Cheaper would have been to pay me off from the start, but they gambled that I wouldn’t fight them properly, and they lost.

Got laid off. Took them to court for unlawful firing. Won a settlement.
Feelings-wise, I never felt like failure, because all my hate is for the capitalistic system that produces such outcomes. Almost everyone goes through this at least at one point in their lives. While sometimes being fired is of course an individuals fault, it being a traumatic event is society’s fault.
In general though, this seems like a question that is completely independent of the circumstances. You simply should never feel like “a failure” because while everyone makes mistakes, no person is ever entirely wrong or a failure. The reason people feel “like a failure” anyway is because of this constant pressure placed on everyone to “succeed” and “achieve” and whatnot. From friends, family, the media, and so on.
There is no easy way to shed this pressure, but it is possible. First you must truly understand the mechanisms at play in all of this, what state you would like to be in, and then it’s a lot of practice to remind yourself of these concepts again and again and again.

There’s no question about LLMs making some things that they’re very good at like translations much much easier.
Then there are a variety of possible levels of disability in a variety of ways, and some of those combinations could actually allow LLMs to allow someone to do what they otherwise couldn’t.
The technology isn’t the devil, the major greed behind its usage or implementation is.

😂 Thanks for proving my point

Different people have different experiences ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I guess most of the pushback is from people that through some privilege or luck either got into a “good” private tracker or have just been there from very early on. For those, they probably work very well.
But because of the massive hurdles for new users and the elitism inside it, it’s a terrible idea to suggest then to anyone new.

What part of “the rest of the argument is obviously fine” didn’t you understand? :D

Uuuummm… Tap water is literally pooled resources.

“Can have” != “Have all the time in every case”

Our representatives do not represent our interests because they are so far removed from us.
That’s a super simplistic statement. There are many more reasons for that, and this one isn’t even among the top of the list.

There is nothing about sharing computational resources that necessarily includes loss of privacy, transparency or freedom. With the correct systems in place (i.e. not controlled by one capitalistic company, fuck you Altman), that can all be fine.

I’m gaming a lot. Can confirm, almost no heating bill, but high electricity bill

I’m sorry, your first statement is a little weird. If there are actually only enough resources to produce 1 hammer, yes, of course you’re depriving your neighbor of a hammer and it’d be better for both of you to share it.
The rest of your argument is obviously fine, just the first part doesn’t make sense.

It’s a good point, but you also don’t keep your ratio, if you stop seeding and only leech, eventually your ratio gets bad again. You just changed to prepaid volume instead of subscription :D
But yeah, you also don’t need your usenet access forever. It’s only for rarely found stuff, remember? You just accumulate those over some time, then pay for a month to get it all, then cancel again. Main tool is public torrents.

Yeah, then the problem becomes again, “how do you get into the right private trackers”, and most of the time the answer is “hey show us how you did on other private trackers”, and then you ask yourself if you’re in a philosophical dilemma involving eggs and chickens.
Yes, but if you read my statement carefully, I ever only speak about “very little” in the context of “compared to what will still happen”.
