Doesn’t even have to be your instance, just whatever instance the community is on.
It’s not fascist to oppose intolerance. You are attacking people’s core identities; their right to exist. It’s not an attack on you when people defend themselves from you. We’re not discussing our favorite movies here. Some other examples of harmful lies:
“People with dark skin are dumb”
“Women are too emotional to make their own decisions”
“Poor people don’t deserve clean air, water and food”
“Being queer is a mental disorder”
“Many children grow out of gender identity disorder once they reach a certain age” (seriously, this is totally made up. Less than 5% of people do this and many of those only detransition because of the hate they encounter)
Climate change is hotly contested too. That doesn’t mean the people contesting it have any valid points. People who are actually invested in evidence-based research, not those trying to cobble together post-hoc justification for their fear, have a general consensus that giving children a basic understanding of what is and isn’t sexually appropriate makes them much safer. And if a child asks whether it’s okay to like either gender, it’s easy to simply answer “yes.”
When that opinion is deeply harmful, is directly contrary to all scientific evidence, results in actual groomers (not trans people) being able to take advantage of ignorance, and is generally used by bigots as a wedge to repress sexual education well beyond teen years–yeah this is the response you get
Some of it is definitely bots, but don’t discount the human factor either. Russia had an entire branch of the military dedicated to trolling the Internet at least as far back as 2015. Something tells me that hasn’t gotten smaller since then. No doubt they work in tandem with bots as well, constantly editing their output, maybe even making posts from the same accounts.
The fediverse may be small compared to the behemoths, but I don’t think we’re so small as to be ignored.
That dude posts so much so frequently, it’s extremely fishy
Just to be pedantic, the “let alone” turn of phrase is meant to imply that the second thing has a higher standard. So in this case it should be corrected to “this wouldn’t hold up in a Victorian age court, let alone a modern one.”
On the one hand calling it AI is annoying, but on the other we’ve been calling video game NPC logic “AI” for as long as I can remember and no one thinks they’re actually sapient. Surely we can get to that point with GenAI as well.
I think it’s possible to pasteurize eggs
For sure it’s possible. Like you said, they do it for eggnog. I used to work for an ice cream company and we’d do it by thoroughly whisking them and then slooooowly stirring them into a hot mix of cream and sugar and whatnot. Not totally sure how you’d do it for this but I’m sure there’s a way; maybe if you’re getting the butter hot you could use that? But also not sure what benefit eggs would impart here. Maybe an extremely subtle flavor but as far as I can tell their purpose in cookies is their structure, which isn’t all that relevant for an edible dough.
Browning the butter is an interesting idea, I might try that. I worry it could reduce the moisture content though; the reason I add extra is to make up for the lack of moisture from eggs and there’s already so much, I wouldn’t want to add even more butter or oil lol. Maybe I could straight up add water but then I usually freeze it and idk if that would be a problem long term
It really does. I’m one of those who like cookie dough more than actual cookies, especially when it comes to chocolate chip. Leave out eggs, add like a tablespoon more butter, and toast the flour beforehand, and you wind up with a truly excellent edible cookie dough. In my book, the nuttiness of the flour is makes it even better than regular dough.
Absolute worst case scenario, you have to reinstall Windows, and that’s really no harder than installing Linux in the first place. I don’t think there’s a situation where you’d wind up “stranded”
Seconding the person saying not to dual boot on a new partition. That was how I started with Linux like 10 years ago, and even then Windows would fuck up grub every time it updated and it took me ages to learn how to get boot into Linux again. Plus if you ever decide to ditch windows entirely, wiping that partition and adding it to the Linux one can be a pain in the ass.
If all you have is a laptop and a dream, maybe that’s the way. But if there are any other options…
I’m no astrophysicist, but isn’t it possible that’s exactly what that asteroid field was in the process of doing? After all, there were several “big ones” for the Falcon to land on. Especially if there are some big collisions happening to keep all the rocks from aggregating smoothly, couldn’t there be a grace period between “cloud of space dust” and “planet” where there could be a dense field of sizeable rocks? However unlikely, surely there’s some scenario where it’s at least possible
Other people have used the words you wrote in other contexts before, therefore you stole their words.
Oh God, so did I! I’m doing it right now! I’m going to jail!
God damn it I can’t believe they ended lower decks by giving Rutherford his eye back for no reason instead of him and tendi finally opening up to each other
It’s not specifically about learning French, but if you’re interested in browsing some French posts the most active instance is jlai.lu
The problem becomes even more stark if you assume parties A and C win 25% and 26%. Heck, let’s make B even more unpopular with a 34-35-31 split. There is an incredible amount of movement required to make a new party dominant and competitive in our fucked up system.
Lucky you. I’ve been letting calls from any number I don’t recognize go to voicemail for years and nothing ever seems to change.
Whatever the reason, navigating that is still more complicated than navigating Lemmy or Mastodon
I think the Yes Man ending is better for the NCR than literally siding with them, assuming the courier is open to allying with them. If their farmers get to keep their land around the strip and free transit is allowed to companies like the Crimson Caravan and the Mojave Express, except security is now provided by an endless army of securitrons instead of a massive, bored, slowly degenerating contingent of NCR troops, the NCR is freed up to secure its own borders and prevent any factions like the Legion from becoming a problem again. The only price that would need to be paid is that some of the food from those farms goes to feeding the strip. Plus the strip gets more visitors thanks to trade from the NCR.
Not sure how long that would last considering what happened to the NCR in the TV show, but disregarding that it seems to me like it’d be massively beneficial to both sides.
