  • Sure. My comment was intended to playfully criticize fantasizing about non-existent states, such as a Soviet Union existing fifty-ish years after its destruction. While I don’t think states should exist generally, I find it humorous that people imagine and then defend non-existent states, and I would be really happy if every state was simply a thought exercise. The meme would be equally funny to me if someone were lamenting the loss of Prussia or San Marino.

  • I do not have state level goals. I am not a state level actor. I am a captive pawn in the colonies, and in my region the only legitimate state is the Senecas, at least to my knowledge. They are good folks but idk if they are “leftists” or whatever. They are just people who live there and have been under attack for hundreds of years. You are describing a philosophical fantasy.

  • I love the high bar of philosophy and taste being set by the discussions here about what is and isn’t art, so please don’t let this note distract from those.

Joints like Christie’s and the stuff they sell is largely a money laundering operation. Without decrying what’s coming out of the modern art scene, art collection is where a lot of the capitalists rinse their stolen wealth. There’s an entire economy around this practice. Here’s a company that will hook you up with the vaults, the lawyers, jewelry to swap, and travel accommodations.

So obviously generative output bots do not make art and- and- BUT ALSO nothing capitalists value is real, they only believe in their fiat. It’s all always just money crime game to them. Always.

  • Okay so this is actually a death threat by OpenAI that Fortune is laundering and helping spread. This is clearly modeled after the Boeing murders and resulting wave of anti-activist propaganda that the capitalist media spread afterward.

Otherwise they wouldn’t be re-framing things like this:

That vantage point helped build his view that OpenAI was breaking the law by making copies of online content. OpenAI was Balaji’s first job out of college, a prodigious leap that…

This young man did not have “his view” that OpenAI is breaking the law and stealing content. That is what is factually happening. He was not a naive idealist, fresh out of college. He was a 26 year old man who knew that what he was seeing was wrong.

Fortune then deeply implies that OpenAI has murdered him. This propaganda serves to terrorize people who are in similar positions with corporations. It is a death threat.

Mr. Remington, as a mod, maybe you could add some context to the headline to reflect this.
