Technology@lemmy.world•Valve admits Steam has an AI slop and cloning problem, but says 'we don't want to be gatekeepers telling developers which tools they should or shouldn't use'English
1·4 days agoYeah - every method to prevent low quality clones would be devastating for games that are cloning the original on a high level or are massively improving on the formula. And the only way to prevent clones at all would be software patents for game mechanics and we really do not want that.

Technology@lemmy.world•Retro Gaming Has a Port-Slop ProblemEnglish
0·8 days agoPeople like to hate on everything AI, but where is the problem here? You are getting ports of games. Which is awesome. The project might be abandoned by the dev sometime in the future, but that is also happening with every other hobby project out there. And those ports are also not taking that many tokens to produce, so even the energy consumption argument is not really working here. Someone going on a ski trip will produce much, much more CO2 than someone creating a port from home.

Cheaper Tokens is a good thing. Maybe not for people who want to sell them to you, but if you buy them, that is awesome
