Not even a programmer, I’m just a lowly support engineer that barely gets over minimum wage. UK wages suck but this is why I don’t try very hard anymore. I have job security by not being incompetent. Only risk of losing it is if they get rid of almost everyone.

Got a few Linux VMs running on my work laptop for testing stuff though and literally no one else in the support team knows how to test what I use them for. It’s a fairly rare task that no proper process exists for. My thinking is to see if I can either roll out VMs to people or better but less likely get my own virtual server.

Tbh not surprised. In 2012 I got my first smartphone, it ran Android. At first I thought it was just like a PC. Within half an hour I was fed up at how useless it was.

Considering moving my stuff into a VirtualBox VM or two rather than running directly on my PC. Then at some point in the future when I have the hardware for it I can fairly easily move it to proxmox. Also means installing a clean OS on my main PC is a quicker task as it would just be install virtual box, load up the VMs and a lot of stuff would already be done.
