Worth a watch, a five-part documentary television series called Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV (2024)

Absolutely correct, Canadian Newspaper pulled the same thing, but they also blocked social media sites from sharing or posting links to their sites, blaming the links were “summarized”. Their argument was the links were being summarized and users were not visiting the Newspapers website.

So social media sites blocked all links of Canadian news, then Newspapers cried foul after a drop in traffic.

Funny enough when you see a summarized link, such as ones that show a picture and maybe a sentence, the content shown in that summary is directly controlled by the site being linked.

That happened in Canada as well a while back.

Funny story though, web extracts that become visible when you share a link for example on a social media platform or even through a text message are actually “controlled” by the source website.

This means the short summary that can range from a sentence to a few sentences is actually completely in the hands of the source website and is not actually “scrapped” when the link is shared.

I think this has something to do with how networking works.

When connected wireless to my car with a VPN active on my phone, my phone won’t connect to my cars WiFi network to initiate the android auto connection.

When connected by USB with VPN active on my phone it’s not issue, android auto connects and my VPN is active.

I remember seeing someone smarter explain this a lot better online somewhere then I can at the moment. But simply trying to connect wireless with a VPN active will not work.

Phones will still use android, but manufacturers are looking to de-google android so it’s not as heavily reliant on google services.

A example is the removal of the required Google play store.

Laptop manufacturers are also looking to move away from windows to a linux bases operating system.

I was generally just thinking how the general public 3-5 years back were protesting about loss of rights (ie. stay at home “orders”) imposed by their government, albeit the protest back then may have been a little flawed and morphed into a Anti-vaccine movement.

Now, 5 years later people are seemingly loosing their rights for real (within the USA) and its almost as if no one notices. ie. Judges being threatened, public services bring dismantled, basic foods increasing in price.

I know its not a perfect 1:1 correlation. The lockdowns effected everyone at the same time in roughly the same way no matter social status. The current situation is more along the lines of “it does not effect me”.

Right! My body my choice, but some how abortion laws don’t follow this logic? Some serious mental gymnastics .

While the U.S. convoy’s grievances are a little broader than its Canadian counterpart, the core goal remains fixed upon ending lockdown mandates members believe have helped to upend society.

They were also upset with rampant government spending, unbridled inflation widening the national wealth gap, Big Tech censorship, swelling authoritarianism, corporate corruption, so-called cancel culture, what they see as legacy media outlets lying to advance specific agendas (e.g. alleging Canadian protestors engaged in widespread violence), and a political class that seems wholly unaccountable for past misdeeds.
