  • I just read this on chapo.chat, what a rollercoaster ride! You can read the admin update here, it looks like they will keep their domain since the auction was cancelled🤞

    Admin response

you do not need to do anything

i am so sorry for the confusion, honestly the whole situation is confusing.

Years ago when we changed to hexbear.net an admin bought the domain name from a domain registrar.

That admin had things come up and wasn’t able to be as active or available.

A small issue with paying for the domain name for the year 2025 happened and the payment was 1 day late.

The domain registrar (digital landlord) took the payment and also put the domain “hexbear.net” up for auction pointing to policy that says if you are late on payment they can auction your domain name.

The admin who owns the domain escalated the issue to the top level up support for the domain registrar. During that time we tried a technical route for moving the domain name to a new registrar, which we did not expect to work. The technical route had a 5 day delay on finding out if it worked or not, during that time is when we set up the vote for what name the community would want in the event we lost hexbear.net

At this moment we still do not know if we have it or not so we are continuing with moving towards hexbear.chat but think that we might have mitigated the worst case scenario with a malicious person getting the hexbear.net domain through the aforementioned technical route.

We are currently working on an updated post to give all the info we have at this time.

    j_s bidder mystery possibly solved

Glad it’s resolved: If anyone is curious on the behind-the-scenes the j_s bidder was planning to return the domain but maybe not in the best way. They found a bug in Sav’s site that allowed them to bid without authorizations being placed, and on another account they managed to “win an auction” for low dollar value domain AND transferred it out somehow. Maybe they noticed, might be why their auction interface was in maintenance mode immediately as this was going on (archive from 19 Feb 2025 10:26:35 UTC https://archive.is/qsVg6 ).

  • Liberals include democrats and republicans and depending on the views of each independent, them too. In north america, “liberals” usually refers to followers of social liberalism as opposed to conservative liberalism. In other places, it can mean a commitment to limited government and laissez-faire economic policies. It’s much more complicated than that but that is a little info.

There’s so much hostile sarcasm here I’m not sure what you believe in but hopefully that helps.

Edit: I can sorta understand since they said shitlib, but not only conservatives use it, it can be used by leftists (actual left wing, not US left wing). So I took out the hostile part.

  • Organ meats can be fantastic and plenty of cultures eat them. Beef kidney is especially good on it’s own, but other organs add a lot of flavor. When we make thanksgiving stuffing we chop up all the turkey organs fine and fry them, then mix them in the stuffing. We don’t tell anyone in the family (don’t worry none are vegetarian or vegan) and they love it. If you eat meat you might be pleasantly surprised by organs. And uhh… sorry for posting this on vegan group. For what it’s worth I think you guys are great and morally correct.

    This was removed for:

No omni/carnist apologists. This is not a place where to ask to be hand-holded into veganims. Omnis coddling/backpatting is not tolerated, nor are /r/DebateAVegan-like threads

So I’ll tell you my thoughts. You posted gore in detail, for this I would report your comment and want it removed. I don’t want to hear about animal organs and how tasty you think they are in a vegan community. You said said organs would pleasantly surprise people (vegans). I mean what did you expect? This particular community doesn’t do the whole back patting because you are cutting down (which you did not mention), other communities would ban you because you weren’t vegan, so you should always read the sidebar.

There were meat-eaters who posted in a better way:

As someone who generally tries to eat less meat, but isn’t yet vegan, what are some of your staple foods you eat on a weekly or daily basis? This isn’t about nutrition, I just want more meals to add to my rotation that don’t have animal products in them.

Notice the difference? There is a time and place.
