Technology@lemmy.world•Motorola Signature 27 with GrapheneOS will cost €1.900
8·3 days agoWhich would make their claim even more wrong because a nominal tax rate of 10% would make that price $1758.9.
But either way, the point is, $1900
@!$and €1900 aren’t the same and either their dollar sign was a typo or they misread.
First and foremost, do you think that use of Large Language Models makes some entity successful?
Followup - Who do you think benefits if people don’t use LLM’S?
Last question at what point does LLM usage for “non-slop outputs” have pros that outweigh the cons as people who are against the use of AI see it?
I feel like you’ve got specific use cases in mind and it seems like a lot of those are the sorts of things where they are specific to a handful of use cases/industries like tech/generating code for projects.
My job has recently made AI available to us. The main reason I don’t use it is because if I need to look something up, I need the actual factual tech data or publication because it contains information that helps me understand the answers I’m looking for. Short of reproducing said pub in its entirety (which can be done with a search engine), the summary doesn’t do anything for me. Even if that information appears in several different places, where it appears is its own information and that has value to give me a better picture.
I don’t want to build something to a spec I don’t understand. So I read the documentation. But I don’t work on code. I build real life machines and troubleshoot real life machines. The only way AI might be valuable in my workplace is if my shop forman or the suits who own the place needed an overview and honestly given where I work and what I do, that’s just incredibly unlikely. Those people were in my shoes at one point. They don’t need the overview.

Technology@lemmy.world•Google Starved Out Publishers With AI Search. Now, Its Pivot Is Blowing Up in Its Face: Its AI Mode isn't the cash cow it hoped it would be.
24·10 days agoI’m not expecting AI to go away. I’m hoping the bubble pop will remove AI from a lot of markets that shouldn’t be using it because it was shoehorned in so they could figure out uses for it. The test bench use makes sense to me. I can see how that could be beneficial to generate. In this case the people using those AI generated tests are still coding and their skills will remain sharp.
But it just doesn’t work for a lot of stuff people are trying to use it for. Consumer tech is one of those things and I actively hate it.

So, the school district’s dispatching decided to make a bus stop at the end of the driveway of a private citizen, and that private citizen decided to make that Bus Stop more comfortable and safer for the kid. Private citizens going above and beyond to provide for and work around bad institutionalized structures or regulations is still the orphan crushing machine at work.
