The problem is really that people think you need to pay $350,000, but you shouldn’t seriously pay more than $40,000. Higher education as a concept isn’t a scam, but certain schools like the Ivy Leagues and private universities absolutely are. While there certainly are benefits to going to a prestigious school, most public state universities in the United States are excellent and hold good reputation. The quality of education you’ll get at a local state college will only be like 10% worse than Harvard or Yale, but will cost 10x less. There’s also the argument for technical schools or apprenticeships; while potentially more limiting, these also offer a significantly more affordable path of higher education for Americans.

While you won’t necessarily get a bonus or anything for having a degree that aligns with the role you perform at a company, you aren’t getting that job without the degree. College degrees serve as a way to move between the American de jure caste system; you can either work in low-wage jobs that won’t require a degree, or you pursue higher education to get access to the ones that do.

Right but take what you just said to it’s logical conclusion. Why should only men have those responsibilities? All you’ve really done is create a different, nicer patriarchy, that still expects men to conform to specific gender roles and still expects women to conform to specific gender roles. Consider the inverse, all the people who physically can’t produce more than they require to survive, who need additional attention or care, through no fault of their own. Can those people not be men?

You’ve described just a generally good person, and realistically you’ve described more women than you have men. The goal should be to get rid of the idea that certain responsibilities are reserved for certain genders completely.

I will say, you’re complaining about community while only playing 1v1 versus games. I don’t think anyone would call WWE 2k14 or the Tekken games really “community focused,” and certainly not to the same level as games like World of Warcraft or Warframe. I’d even argue other PvP focused titles would offer better communities, as team-focused titles like Deadlock and Marvel Rivals incentivize players to seek out other players they enjoy playing with. Solo 1v1s just don’t incentivize community in the same way.

Assuming the story isn’t fake, this could be a sufficiently traumatic memory to still be available even after many years. Really strong emotions can form strong memories, and cancer is a common enough topic that those pathways would see gradual maintenance over time. I certainly remember the first girl who had a crush on me, and that was back in first grade.

You’re watching the collapse of an empire. The citizens are getting desperate and scared, those of them that don’t realize or understand the situation they’re in even moreso. What you’re seeing isn’t driven by malice, it’s just too difficult to care for others now. A lotta my friends struggle to pay rent every month and keep food in their mouths. We walk around with the knowledge a stranger could freak out and gun us down at any moment. Is it any wonder that they are numb to violence, numb to threats, even numb to the fear of death?

Once you get that numb and hollow, you cut what’s extraneous away and focus on your own survival. Americans are, broadly speaking, panicked animals. The worse things get, the more panicked and desperate they’ll become, and the less they’ll care about standards and morals in the pursuit of survival.

If I was very desperate and my current job no longer sufficed, sure I’d hop on OnlyFans or FeetFinder and give it a go. The problem I have is more one of laziness. I like showing off my body, and spend a good amount of time cultivating parts like my ass and thighs to look attractive. The limiting factor is that I don’t have anyone to hold a camera. It’s a lot of fun to model, it’s a lot less fun to setup a camera/mic, create a scene, and actually take 30-40 pictures/30 sec vid clips. If I had to do it for survival, I could, but I prefer just sending simple thirst traps to fwb.

The issue is that a lot of companies are being performative in that representation. They’ll make a commercial positively representing trans people, and then quietly destroy their DEI initiative and lay-off their trans employees. They’ll make a big show of supporting the LGBT community…until it cuts into their profit margins, and then they’ll gladly make a show of pandering to fascists. We can’t really reward these companies or call them allies when clearly the only thing they actually care about is money. To them, any representation they give is a happy accident on the path to shaking us down.

I love how so many people in the PoE2 community are trying to find a rational explanation for this behavior, like trying to determine what publicity faking being a high level gamer gives.

I’d argue this is the clearest evidence we’ve received that Elon has narcissistic personality disorder. These are the actions of someone who is suffering from a mental illness. He needs validation from his army of followers for the insane, grandiose claims that he makes, and doesn’t feel the need to spend even a modicum of effort on making his lies seem believable.

You’re maybe in the vast minority of normies, but I think a lot of gamers have actually realized how lame Skyrim is. There’s certainly hours long rants on Youtube breaking down each little issue the game has, as well as examining it from the perspective of modern game design and as a failure of the Elder Scrolls brand, but beyond that; is anyone really holding up vanilla Skyrim as the pinnacle of gaming any more? Even Bethesda realized it needs mods to be enjoyable.

Kinda a weird take, because BG3 is just Larian recycling their old tricks, and Elden Ring is just FromSoftware recycling their old tricks. Seems gamers don’t have too much of an issue with companies making similar games in a niche.

Think the issue is more that Bethesda has never had a clear vision for Elder Scrolls as a series and changes the formula up for each game, as opposed to iterating. Elder Scrolls has lost more mechanics than its added over the years. I think Elder Scrolls 6 would be a lot more interesting if old tricks like spellmaking and levitation were brought back.

because Larion was 100% a AA developer before BG3 came out, and it’s hard to justify changing their place in the industry based solely on the success of their breakout game. It’s also important to remember that Wizards of the Coast were major bankrollers of the project, it wasn’t solely Larion. Larion is independent again, and I imagine their next project will be closer to the quality of Divinity 2 (still an incredible game btw) than BG3.
