afaik Headscale is designed for Tailscale and not plain Wireguard. It’s overkill for plain wireguard.

82·14 hours agoFrom what I read about regarding the PHP vulnerabilities, the RCE was extremely difficult to pull off. I’d guess it’s the same here, at least until some non-AI companies weigh in, since these AI companies tend to distort the reporting and severities quite a bit.
This is pedantics, but technically what you are talking about can be achieved with wireguard too. You are talking about using STUN/TURN to do NAT holepunching to establish a connection between two wireguard clients.
Wireguard is just the vpn protocol. Tailscale even uses it. How the connection is established, is up to the user. So what you’re really talking about is Tailscale vs “how most people set up Wireguard”.
The reason why I make this distinction is because it would be nice if somebody made an easy self-hosted way to do the STUN/TURN stuff for plain wireguard.
This is still relevant if you have untrusted devices on your tailnet, for example a cheap IOT device (in case anybody is wondering why you’d do this, TailScale makes it easy to set ACLs to control which devices can access which resources)

Is this true? Reddit threads show up in search but they still make you log in to view
Edit: looks like Discord plans to make the messages visible to guests. For now at least. I’d say 90% probability they are doing this to cement their platform as a forum replacement, and will enshittify and login-wall everything once they have captured the market

So to me the difference between the two sides, is about fair use. One side thinks AI training isn’t inherently violating copyright licenses, and the other side thinks it is. FWIW, I believe the US courts side with former.

1·13 days agoAnd people wonder why so many devs use Electron. It may be slow and a RAM hog but hey it works.

I never said speed was all that mattered. But from my experience, and my other friends in the industry, it is possible to achieve speed while maintaining quality. security, and maintainability. Because these are all things that the AI can look for too. Just look at how many vulnerabilities AI is finding nowadays. Just like any other product manager, you can bring up concerns, ask the AI to look into them, and validate the AI’s claims. Just like you would manage a team of engineers. Which is of course still faster than writing everything yourself.
If all you ask the AI to do is produce lines of code, that’s all it will do. But AI workflows can be far more complex than that.
