For shooters, especially competitive ones, as high as possible up to my monitor’s refresh rate (165Hz). Everything else 60 FPS is fine. Even 30 FPS can be fine, especially if I’m playing something on Switch.
I might be wrong, but I think you still can’t use a ‘:’ in a filename in macOS. If I recall correctly it will let you do it and show it in Finder, but actually replace it with a ‘-’.
This is the way. I blocked keywords relating to Trump, Musk and the far right extremist party in my own country the other day and while some stuff still gets through it has made Lemmy significantly more pleasant to browse.
I can read about that stuff elsewhere if I really want to, but honestly I think we might not even be in this mess if the media didn’t amplify those voices every time they said or did something outrageous.
I implemented the filters using the Voyager app, but I think most Lemmy clients have similar options. On desktop my instance offers Tesseract which also allows filtering by keywords.
I’m fully bilingual (learned both languages at the same time) and that is not my experience at all. For me it is 100% subconscious. I just automatically speak the appropriate language for the situation I’m in without thinking about it.
In fact if I try to consciously speak the “wrong” language for the situation I’m in it feels very weird and it takes a lot of effort to not mix up the pronunciation.
Dreaming/inner thoughts work the same way. The language is always automatic based on context.
When German cops do police brutality they burn you to death in your cell
That’s why you stamp it out first.
You can change the home button behaviour in the settings to take you to the app view.
public infrastructure doesn’t give you a lot of options for getting rid of butts
It’s literally the same infrastructure as for every other kind of litter: a bin. Just stamp it out and throw it away. If there isn’t a bin take it with you and throw it out later. Before I quit smoking I had a small plastic vial with a screw lid that I collected the butts in for later disposal. A small jar, dedicated pocket ash tray or in a pinch even a plastic bag or simply a pocket would work too. It’s really not that hard.
I realise you’re probably not one of the people who litter their cigarette butts, but you still shouldn’t be making excuses for people who do. Throwing cigarettes on the ground is no better than any other kind of littering. And while I’m at it: the same goes for bottle caps.
There’s a headphone jack on the other side. I don’t think Apple make a computer without a headphone jack. Most models have more than two USB-C ports as well and all current models have a dedicated “Magsafe” charging port.
It seems like it’s still possible to disable Gatekeeper on macOS 15: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/255759797
I haven’t tried it though. It’s so rare that I want to run something unsigned, I prefer leaving it enabled and then allowing whatever it is I want to run.
I’ve read about places banning their use at night because they kill hedgehogs.
I don’t know if it counts as a habit, because I don’t have a schedule or anything, but I ride my bike an average of 150km per week.
Serious question: How do you tell someone suicidal that opens up to you, that you can’t handle the topic without making them feel worse?
The 840 uses different firmware to the 520 and you can’t disable the VP at all. You can however access the file system as you described, so my workaround was to edit the XML files for the map themes and make the arrow for the virtual partner 100% transparent. The VP is still running of course, but that does fix most of my gripes with it.
I’ll have to check if I can do something similar for the sounds, but I’m not sure it will be possible since it’s just a beeper and I don’t imagine there are ordinary sound files that can be edited.
I have a Garmin Edge 840 bike computer and I do like it (more than the Wahoo ELMNT Bolt v2 I had before), but man some of the design decisions are just baffling to me.
Like why can’t I have tones for my notifications (for refuelling), without also having them for navigation? And why do notifications close themselves after 5 seconds? I always miss them because I either have the tones silenced and happen to be looking where I’m going instead of my head unit when they pop up, or I have the tones on I miss them because the navigation tones are so obnoxious I just learn to ignore all the sounds.
And why can’t I disable the virtual partner, and why the hell is the arrow on the map for the virtual partner bigger than the one that represents the actual rider?

All you’ve said is that it’s fine because you can run Windows 10 on old hardware, but somehow being able to run a fully supported version of macOS isn’t good enough.
The point was that Windows is the same.
Apple supports current macOS plus the previous two. If he’s on one of those ( which it sounds like) everything will work just fine.
Nice, straight up antisemitism.
