I don’t need this app to know flightradar is a risk.

We’re team “fuck no!”. Welcome to paradise.
That’s what I ended up doing. I don’t want any of that shit in my daily driver.
My case is the other way around. I look for software in the store, and if I can’t find it, then I install from the terminal, but I always update (and remove) from terminal. I’m a diehard Gnome user, but this will certainly make me move to something else.
Now, in flatpak’s defense, it’s great to keep browsers away from my system, as well as some other inconsequential apps that have no business integrating with my system. I like flatpak’s for these use cases. Everything else, I need my RPMs.
For example, Apple has cared about their developers as customers.
Only if by “customers” you are referring to how they constantly find new ways to fuck you over.
Guilty as charged, I owned a total of 5 jeep/Chrysler/Dodge vehicles way back when. Moved to Infiniti, then Tesla (fucking got rid of it within a year) and now I have a Chinese BYD with every telematic disabled.
Should we start a thread showing off our tinfoil hats collections? 🤣
Isuzu diesel engines are immortal, you can’t break them even if you put gasoline in them 🤣
The fact remains that, unless everyone decides to punish these companies by not buying anything from them until they change course, it’ll only keep getting worse. Show me 1 that has changed to keep their clients happy instead of the shareholders. Yes, it can change within 20 years, for the worse, as history has shown us.
That’s the easy “justification” used 99% of the time. Every single company. Fuck them all.
Unfortunately, public transportation in my country is garbage, and I’m being considerate with that word.
I used to be a rabid advocate of self hosting password managers, and was switching between Vaultwarden and KeepassXC every few months. But Proton offered a lifetime subscription to Proton Pass with unlimited Simple login aliases, and I bought it now use this exclusively.
I wouldn’t worry too much. Trump is old, he can just drop dead of a heart attack or a stroke at any point. I mean, it’s like he’s alway pissed, so his at rest HR has to be above 100BPM at it’s lowest 🤣 Then the US falls on the hands of JD Vance. I’m just sitting here waiting for that to happen and see what course that “country” takes.
Someone at OM forgot to click the “reindex-db” this morning 🤣
Same as almost everyone, I need some apps that just won’t work, even with sandbox GSM and Play (ie: banking apps, ev charging, my kids’ school reporting app), so I just have a sub-200 dollars phone just for that (One Plus n200 is now 84 dollars).
Since I only use apps when there’s no other option (web version and PWA for everything else), it’s actually refreshing. I charge my car at home unless I’m on a road trip, and only use banking apps 1 day of the month to get paid and pay bills. Outside of that, I’m home free with everything self hosted and absolutely no social networks other than Lemmy and Mastodon.
Unfortunately, if you want privacy, you need to compromise. However, absolutely nothing will make me drop my GrapheneOS use for everything else.
I get it that’s not optimal, but the alternative, in my opinion is even worse.
Good luck degoogling, and I wish you enjoy the mental health improvement once you do.
For me it’s hit-or-miss with Nord and with Proton. As a matter of fact, works more times than not. This is on Brave browser, just to be clear.
Same here. It works flawlessly. I installed from Github via Obtainium.
All I have to say is: welcome, good luck and have fun.
