I really don’t understand how so many people are unwilling to be mildly uncomfortable
One of my friends won’t get off Twitter “because that’s where the good memes are”. I’m like ma’am you can live on slightly stale memes.

No. Minimizing spending until / unless I get a better job. Fuck 'em. Fuck the capitalist dogs. I’ve got a library full of books and a decade of old games.

Aardwolf is still up and fairly active as of when I last played, maybe a year ago. Has a nice client you can download with some QoL features like an automapper
It’s not my favorite mud ever in terms of gameplay (RIP project Bob. Too good for this world) but it’s pretty good. I did like 3 remorts and got bored of the random “go kill this mob” quests, and some of the area puzzles are annoying. These are related thoughts.

It just takes one industrious plumber.
I don’t especially want to live in a world full of stochastic terror, but if we’re going to have some I’d prefer billionaires were on the receiving end sometimes.

it’s like a “you break it, you buy it” policy - you charge as much as the broken thing costs
So if the thing they broke can never be whole again, we take infinite value out of the company? Leave all the shareholders with nothing, seize their personal assets, and put their pictures on a big “WALL OF SHAME - DO NOT SERVE” mural? I could get behind this.

It has to be worth, not just income. There’s too many loopholes around “I don’t have income I just have stock I use as collateral for a loan” or “I don’t have income but my LLC happens to pay for all of my daily expenses”.
But yes, all fines need to scale with the perpetrator. The more dollars you have, the less each dollar means.
A $100 ticket for parking on a crosswalk means nothing to a millionaire, but is potentially ruinous for someone living in poverty. It needs to hurt the same for everyone. The millionaire should have to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars. They need to feel pain.
A lot of people are really shitty and operate at a very basic level of moral reasoning. It’s just “did I get punished?”.

billionaire could pay off someone’s $500,000 mortgage, their $30,000 car, pay off $50,000, give them $100,000 in cash and forget about it the next day
They could, but they won’t, and that’s part of the problem.
If billionaires walked around clearing people’s mortgages and paying for everyone’s dinner, they’d be less hated. They’d still be a problem, but they could buy popularity.
But they don’t. Because they’re assholes.
Maybe this will scare some of them into changing the behavior. Maybe it will get some of them killed.
You all remember that “you are Jeff bezos” game, I hope: https://direkris.itch.io/you-are-jeff-bezos

I dislike all the long term on street parking here. Some of it I’d rather was just 15 minute parking for when you need to load or unload something. Most of the time I look at the cars and I’m like why are you here. There’s a subway stop and two bus lines here.

Middle managers like to set targets and goals because it counts towards their bonus, and it looks less like they’ve got their dick in their hand when the boss comes calling.
It’s the same problem all over. Capitalism. You have people who don’t do work keeping the benefits from the work.
Most people aren’t going to give themselves stupid or useless metrics. Software people aren’t going to impose “tokens used” or “lines of code” metrics on themselves. They know those are stupid.
Some players are hoarding all the resources, and formed gangs to keep their power. Sucks. You can’t just shoot them because the other players whine, and you’ll probably get banned.

This is vital context. Big difference between like working in a kitchen with a bunch of people and working a software remote job.

. The net result is that everyone has learned very quickly to praise executives on their visionary AI prowess, or they will be gunned down in the proverbial streets.
Once again, the people making the decisions are idiots.

Labor should keep the profits of its work. The owners just sit around and make bad decisions. Fuck them. They’d be lucky to walk away, if there was justice in this world.

Peer pressure is one of the only things that can change minds. Facts don’t do it so much as your friends and people you look up to pushing back on you.

No. There are plenty of other people out there. Plenty of people who would be kind to you. These people sound horrible.

Javascript is a language full of weird quirks. A language with fewer footguns would probably be smoother for learning fundamentals. Python is pretty good in terms of letting you do the thing, instead of making you find a third party library (not that one, that’s deprecated) or having unexpected default behavior ( in JS [1,2] + [3,4] is the string 1,23,4, for example)
TypeScript adds more guard rails, but is a little more complex to get going.

This shouldn’t be allowed. We need to stop letting corporations consolidate.
That aside, I don’t think I’ve ever used either of these. I used to use seamless for restaurant delivery, but not so much anymore. Shit’s too expensive.

It’s a big multiplier on incompetence. It lets someone who’s kind of bad at their job produce a lot more bad than they could before.

I have no regrets staying off YouTube and similar parts of the Internet. I understand your issues with it. Maybe you also would benefit from leaving the platform and enjoying other media.
Oh I played the shit out of the shareware version of one must fall. Great game. Loved the RPG-stats tournament mode
