Without deterrence Russia would crush Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Ukraine whilst threatening all of Europe. The US would take Canada, Greenland. NK would take South Korea. China would take Taiwan.

The world has never been free of evil powerful men who would take from their neighbors. What you think looks like peace has only ever been most of the situations being stable based in large part on people’s willingness to murder people who would come to murder and take from them. If you aren’t actually willing to fight you won’t find yourself safe very long.

Military aid between nations creates stability by drastically increasing the cost of attacking one party lest an empire expand by taking one bite at a time and becoming strong enough to threaten larger neighbors in the process.

Christianity IS evil. Whilst the possibly mythic progenitor of the religion is supposed to be good its been broadly responsible for many evil acts and given a chance couldn’t even speak out against actual Hitler until after he was defeated and dead.

Flatpaks that aren’t official products of the source project sometimes have interesting issues pertaining to their permissions, are harder to set as the handler for files, harder to enable usage of system tools, don’t follow system themes, are harder to start or use from the command line, and yes start slower than native apps.

I like the idea that even stable distros can have latest stuff easily or distros which don’t package a given project. I use a few myself. It is certainly annoying that it ends up teaching people about what dirs they need to share with flatseal, flatseal, desktop files, and the command line for something which is supposed to simplify things.

Kinda feels like less work to use rolling release with a more comprehensive set of packages.

There’s a good reason why there is no GUI installer in arch (aside from being able to load it into ram).

This is the dumbest conceit of the arch community. I learned Linux using Fedora back when regular usage required more know how than installing arch does and it was enormously helpful to have something you could click and install and THEN learn in a functional environment. Also following the guide isn’t THAT hard its just a waste of effort for a million people to do so.

There really aren’t any simple settings for grub that need a GUI and honestly the systemd service CLI for enabling starting and disabling is pretty damn easy

I don’t think you can blame the Dems for a majority of Americans voting for a man his own current VP once called “America’s Hitler”. We are here entirely because the majority of Americans wanted this.

In case you aren’t aware our presidential elections aren’t decided by popular vote but but electoral vote for each state apportioned sort of but not evenly according to population of state. If you get 50% + 1 vote in a given state you get all of that state’s vote. You could in theory win as a red candidate with 40% of the popular vote. The majority of electoral votes are a foregone conclusion and even almost 40% of the vote in competitive states.

You could run your neighbors dog’s ass as team red and win all of the vote in red states and 40% of the vote in purple states.

The entire direction of our country is determined by how as little as 2% of the county votes in 6 states. This privileges the conservatives control the country better than half the time despite only winning the popular vote twice in the last 32 years. Based on our constitution we can’t change it without either their assent or a civil war and breakdown of all order.

You are assuming supporting Gaza would have helped in some way. In reality Americans see the gazans as a bunch of terrorist squatters and any greater support of them would have clinched the rust belt harder and only won more support on net where it wasn’t useful.

It would have been fantastic if team blue could have pissed off millions of white people to gain thousands of Muslims in Michigan for instance netting a bigger loss.
