Technology@lemmy.world•It Turns Out Binance's $6 Billion Hack Happened Because Its Employees Were Vibe CodingEnglish
9·4 hours agothis article makes it seem like Homebrew is something that only vibe coders use. in reality, Homebrew has thousands of projects on it that cover a very wide range of software. this is Futurism once again adopting a click-bait style that obscures the truth. they also tend to overly dramatize news in order to drum up clicks. looking at their site without an ad-blocker makes it obvious why they do this.
anyone who has seen one of these go off knows exactly how horrible it is too. the water in those pipes just sits there, year after year. when they finally get used, or one is damaged, they release a putrid stagnant water that might put out fires well enough, but is filthy and stinks to the high hells.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Hows Lemmy/Piefed nowadays? More popular? Less popular? Or about the same?English
1·1 day agoPiefed and lemmy.world are the liberal and progressive hugfest flavor.
moth supposes you’re one of those people who thinks anyone left of margaret thatcher is a progressive.
the community already made a custom server that’s compatible with Bitwarden, I imagine if Bitwarden cut them off then they could make a custom client for it as well.
in fact I believe there are community made Bitwarden apps already for Linux desktops, although I never tried them because I just use the browser extension.

3·4 days agoanyone who hasn’t used a vizio TV won’t even understand exactly how right you are. the vizio OS is borderline unusable, even when nothing is “wrong” with it. truly the dumbest “smart” TV brand to have ever been made. and they can’t even blame it on the OS being vibe coded, because their TVs have been shite long before chatgpt came around.

1·4 days agomoth supposes that all TV brands do this, and one must take defensive measures if one wants to protect their privacy. until people decide to actually do something about it, this is the world we live in. most people care little for these things, if they think of them at all.

moth supposes that you enjoy twisting words to invent some ill intent you can lash out at. this seems like a personal problem you will have to deal with, and has nothing to do with moth. best of luck with becoming a better person, moth is rooting for you.

111·4 days agothe nice thing about this is you can just not connect your TV to the internet. moth uses a Dell workstation pulled from the garbage bin of a corporation as a media PC. it’s far more powerful than it needs to be in order to stream media, and cost nothing because it was basically stolen (is taking things from a garbage bin legally theft?).
check you local thrift stores for old “garbage” PCs that you can bring back to life with Linux. this is far better for your privacy than using a “smart” TV.

211·5 days agosome rich dude who works in tech. also his two young children, sadly.
why be disappointed in Proton? every bad headline about them in the past year has been about Andy, the employees don’t like him any more than you do.

joker burned the pile of money because he wanted to show that power, money, and the incentives that drive capitalism meant nothing to him. moth supposes you might be being hyperbolic to say you see capitalist CEOs share that viewpoint every day, let alone literally burning piles of money.
