That is really amazing. The detail is great.
Transfered from Feddit.ch as they closed up shop unfortunately.

Thank you. That’s incredibly insightful. When I get the cash I’ll setup a PiHole
Fair
That’s a good point
Why would someone pick PiHole over say a customized NextDNS on your router?
I disagree with the statement now a days. There are so many paid services that still sell your data. I use almost entirely all FOSS programs which are also monetarily free and none turn me into their product.
I’ll try that version of MangoHud too. It has never worked for me
This is really neat. I’ll be trying it out for sure
Send them both a bunch of videos from Naomi Brockwell (NBTV). Or buy them each a copy of her book
Agreed
Buy a used one then. GrapheneOS is by far the best mobile operating system. I have used Calyx and have a Lineage tablet. Neither of them compare to how well GrapheneOS works in and of itself as well as with sandboxed Play services
The best option is GrapheneOS on Pixel devices.
I use 7Digital and HDTracks to purchase DRM free music. Neither require KYC or block VPNs. At least one uses PayPal but allows guest checkout. I use Privacy.com cards to purchase too
That’s unfortunate to hear. I doubt anything will compete with Steam with all the things you want. People need to choose to put value where it really matters and have some inconveniences. Pirating certainly won’t get you what you want. Supporting DRM free services (and the games devs) will do more good. You could download your GoG games through the Heroic launcher and it’ll use wine proton (or whatever it’s called). Also Nexus mods has a new mod manager that’ll work on Linux but it’s only in alpha stage currently.
I think giving up swipe to text is a small thing to make your life more private
That’s a nice thought. Thank you for sharing
You should abandon Apple for Linux anyways. Apple doesn’t care about you, your privacy, or anything but them making more money, from you. This has been proven time and time again by evidence and whistleblowers.
Then let’s support the good companies to make it the rule and not exception. The market won’t change until the consumer tells them what’s important
I already had a Razer mouse before Linux so I’m grateful for this project. However in the future I do want a mouse that either uses a web UI for software or just firmware.
Zeromouse by Optimum Tech uses Finale-Mouse software
I also came across this company called Vaxee which makes normal looking mice with high performance hardware and it’s firmware based adjustments
