Huge fan of Ente Auth as well. Completely open source and available on F-Droid. Offers encrypted backups with cloud options so you can easily restore between devices if needed.
I swear it used to state if they ever had to charge for it free accounts would be grandfathered in, but now it just says free. Guessing the photo service covers its cost.
Ente photos is also awesome. I’m a huge fan and subscriber.
That tracks. That was my plan, a PV on the node I intended to store jellyfin and potentially other sqlite data and back em up for restore later. Will have 2 nodes with m.2 ssd storage for that.
Hadn’t heard of Talos before. Seems pretty neat. Since its run in memory I presume you could netboot it rather easily? I’ve not had issues with k3s myself but an immutable k8s distro sounds pretty nice.
I evaluated rook ceph and raw ceph but I don’t think I need the benefits ceph offers as opposed to the increase in storage of a standard NAS with parity.

Ya I’m actually running k3s on em now but they dont do much as I’m switching them all over to eMMC or m.2 storage for the os.
I’ve installed k8s manually before and that’s a fools errand. K3s is so much smoother.
Its a group of rock64 and old pi. Picked up a new orange pi5 as well so itll be a three server node k3s setup.
I was evaluating ceph but I think its overkill for my use. Too many drives needed 😅. I’m okay with parity and none of the data stored is irreplaceable. The stuff that is is off site backed up.
I really just want to mimic the Unraid drive setup and move to infra as code as its easier for me to maintain.
I may end up with proxmox in the end who knows.
Migrate from Unraid in a massive tower to a proper JBOD rig in a rack. Finally set up ARM SBC k8s cluster for most things alongside the old x86 hardware for a few services and running the NAS as I don’t know how I’d hook that up to the SBCs.
That will depend per game as far as I know.
Native vs wine/proton locations will vary and even when emulating windows some games use “My Games”, “My Documents”, %APPDATA%, etc for the save file location.
Regarding cloud saves, Heroic will let you download or force download them. After that you would just need to place them where they are expected for the game.
I use Heroic on desktop and deck and am a big fan personally.

While this might not solve all of your use cases, did you consider a tool like mise?
Theres a number of other options out there such as asdf-vm and others who’s names I can’t recall. I recently moved from asdf to miss but its a great way to install things on different machines and track it with your dotfiles, or any other repo you want to use. Mise has tons of configuration options for allowing overrides and local machine specific versions.
It won’t tie into apt for your upgrades but you could just alias your apt update to include && mise up.
Check out zed or lapce. Both are open source but native editors as opposed to chromium with near first class vim support. Much faster but less stable as neither are 1.0 yet. Additionally they have great LSP features.
That being said I just can’t give up my vim and terminal workflow but I’m actively following both projects.

I’d definitely recommended valetudo, but wanted to mention that eufy has some easily repairable non WiFi vacs that work reasonably well with no smart features. Eufy has a rough track record regarding privacy with their other smart products but can’t spy without a connection.
Any links or thoughts on sane OpenWRT settings for a home network? I’m a networking noob but learning slowly and would love some good reading or tips.
I use gocryptfs because it can be used on Android (DroidFs) and Linux desktop so I can sync my shares.
There’s a few GUIs for desktop for it that you can try out and see if they help with your use case.

When did alacritty die? I thought it was still actively maintained. Maybe I missed an important commit somewhere but it looks active as of now?
