I run 16 Bit Virtual Studios. You can find more reviews from me on YouTube youtube.com/@16bitvirtual or other social media @16bitvirtual, and we sell our 3D Printed stuff on 16bitstore.com
I agree, however if the price is making your nervous try a Factory Seconds Framework. We noticed no issues with on our end and it’s cheaper.
Sure you get a 11th gen Intel, but the performance is still good enough for indi games and more than enough for surfing the web

I read the manual for my cars radio. It has a max file size limit of like 256 songs or so per folder. But it can also accept 256 folders.
So if your cars is anything like mine you can probably play your songs just by splitting them up into more folders.
Flying car cheat in San Andreas. I don’t know what the buttons are, by my muscle memory is so ingrained that if I start it I can usually get it after 1/2 attempts. Even if I haven’t touched the games in years.
Just going to add, flatpaks have a hard time picking up controllers at least if you are using remote play. Would strongly recommend the deb
So I have a Framework 13 AMD with Mint. Framework on older firmware isn’t the best, but with Mint 22 and by extension 24.04 it’s fine.
Got mine back in December and had no issues with the installation process. Games play fine though the fan goes to 100% after a bit. But with power profile in 22.1 it can quiet the machine down.
Other than that and the occasional hiccup. Compared to other laptops it’s the best machine I’ve used. So far no issues with only a few times of opening the terminal to fix minor issues.
1L water bottle, especially if it’s insulated. Keeps your drink cool, but also makes it so I don’t have to get up to get more drinks when I run out.
We had some in a car during a trip to Wonderland during the summer. A Gatorade bottle was disgustingly hot while the insulated bottles still had ice in them.
5/7 would recommend
Nah, they usually don’t have that any more. From what I’m told it’s background noise for them to fall a sleep too. I’m also told they pay hundreds of dollars every month just to enjoy this.
I think we need to define TV.
Tv in the sense of broadcast stations and shows. Haven’t touched that since 2008, DVDs and Streaming has everything I want.
TV in the sense of a shared screen for everyone. Nah, still needed and can be better than ever thanks to streaming, both retail and… other sources (plex)
I am doing my part
I didn’t know where else I could post it. The Harry Potter lemmies are a bit confusing to figure out what is safe to post where, especially with a community that has posts and engagement (even if it’s memes). So I would consider myself an outlier.
Trying to avoid apps with subscriptions. The way I see it, it’s a question of when not if they change how the app works.
I 100% agree, and have Fusion360 in my VM. But there is a method to FreeCAD’s madness and once you get it, FreeCAD begins to make sense.
I found it hard to go back to fusion especially with the amount of control I had with my designs.
Also FreeCAD V1 is out, and it’s a marked improvement over their previous releases. Might be worth a try.
Being able to sync music or movies to my iPhone/iPad. More of an Apple issue than Linux, yet Mac/PC is compatible.
VLC does work, but since it’s not how Apple wants you to use your device it’s not as convincing nor flushed out.
This is the way
It does but from my testing only on impossible shapes. Like two triangles mirrored at the tip with a width of 0.
It has other issues still, but the app is stable.
Is it decent ? Yes
Should I look elsewhere? Also yes.
CAD is difficult to understand on a good day, and FreeCAD is a beginner unfriendly implementation of it.
I personally love it and it’s an excellent tool if you already know what you are doing. If you don’t, it’s a mess of screens and spaces with no rhyme or reason.
My two cents. Learn CAD first, Google Sketchup or Fusion 360 are good and beginner friendly with lots of tutorials. Then move to FreeCAD to learn the differences.
That said if you want to just try FreeCAD, this release is the best I’ve used from them.
When I was in Uni, we had the opportunity to apply for co-op at Black Berry when they still made phones with their own OS.
I was getting into mobile dev at this time and applied and got an interview.
I didn’t know what I was expecting but what I got was a 10-20min sales pitch for their phone and I wasn’t asked a question… I don’t think. From what I gathered afterwards they just wanted to hire/rehire one guy and had to interview others to be in the co-op program.
Believe it or not I wasn’t sold on black berry after that.
Here’s the guide I used: https://www.standingpad.org/posts/2024/06/affinity-on-linux/
The only thing I did differently was I used this yaml to make the container: https://gist.github.com/gnat/8b69cf49b68e2349afe5e8cb5af49bf8
There’s a bit of tinkering afterwards, but it runs.
Good news is that there are alternative ways to download these books from Amazon for backup purposes. It’s not as straightforward but it’s doable.
That said I will be refusing to buy from any storefront that doesn’t offer a way to download my books. Even adobe digital editions is a viable alternative.
