A few weeks ago I lost a near and dear colleague. I was grieving pretty horribly and this attendant at a local electronics store must’ve noticed, because she asked me if I was alright. So I told her. A week later - yes, I frequent that store because electronics is a hobby of mine - she was at the cash registers again and she followed up on my wellbeing, asking how I was. It was so heartwarming. I wish I could’ve expressed, other than with words, how beautiful I think it is to care about strangers like that. So yesterday I did my first soldering ever and I thought, why not give it to her as a token of my gratitude. So I did. Just 30 minutes ago. She really seemed to appreciate it. And I told her that more people should be like her, caring for each other casually.

Since my depression set in four-five years ago, I have been stunted when it comes to interactions with people. But this just felt right.

I hope I didn’t do anything weird. People have been frowning on me for my whole life for being way too expressive, enthusiastic, eccentric, whimsical or whatever. So I second guess my actions.

Don’t let other people yuck ur yum when being expressive is yummy AF. Too many people nowadays think being nonchalant is cool, but it just ends up in those people not having meaningful connections. I’m so sorry for your loss.
