  • Ok sweetie? My mum and dad came up in those sort of schools and told us about them, which is why they didn’t tolerate similar shit from my teachers. My mother went to a catholic school in the 60s-70s with nuns running classes. For those that know, that’s nuff said right there.

So they were pretty militant on the “we’re paying for our kids to be educated, not traumatised, abused or really anything else but that” stuff. Not that we didn’t have our share of shit teachers to deal with but at least they weren’t able to beat us with 1m rulers I guess.

  • Dental stuff. It stains the stuff that builds up on your teeth when you don’t brush (plaque), so you can see where you’re missing when brushing. Mostly given to kids who insist they’re brushing properly, right after they’ve brushed; to demonstrate they likely aren’t. You can get ‘em here too, but they’re usually given out in dental practices not schools.

  • Nah it’s pretty fucking grim out there these days. When my job at the MSP ended I would have put out -50 or so applications. Largely ignoring any that tried to take me to third party sites to fill out those absolute time waster quiz/assesments. Eventually got an interview which turned into an offer and an offer from a recruiter that found my resume and recruited for my current organisation. Consider myself very lucky. I don’t know if AI applications are shitting the process up but it seems shit for everyone out there.

I never bother with any applications that require quizzes/assessment/videos because unless they state their pay range, you’re putting in more work and they likely will just ghost you like the others. Fuck em. Good to hear you’re staying positive, definitely the better mindset to have for it.

1 Most ISP use this, one of the main beginning steps for self hosting is requesting a static IP (actually you may not even need this, just having one automatically opts you out of CGNAT for my ISP) 2. Surely this is worded to mean “you can’t host a server farm from your domestic service (pay us for a different, more expensive service)” and not “no self hosting allowed”?

  • Personally, port forwarding was pretty low on the list. Also, what happened to portfoward.com? It was invaluable to me back in the day but is jammed with ads now (at least on mobile). Once you figure it out for your particular router it’s pretty much done. Also, if a provider charges you enough for a static IP to host a VPS, you need a new ISP. Unless VPS’ are cheaper than I expected?

For me when I first started it was VLANs (former ISP had one, “bricked” a router trying to make it work before I knew what I was doing), subnetting and getting shit like mariaDB to work/docker in general.

This user came into a post about a doordasher posting that they had gotten punished by the company after complaining of sexual assault. Bennyboy posted to the effect of “everything is assault these days” and went on to assert that the woman in question was “probably shit her job and made it all up”. They are quite literally a “nice guy” if their flipping out didn’t make that apparent already. Edit: I’ll just leave this here
