We need way more than that. The capitalist market is still fundamentally misaligned. The focus on shareholders over stakeholders will always be unaligned. We need Stakeholder Socialism and a Coöp Commonwealth economy.

Arguably the dominos are already falling, but it is difficult to see till they start to snowball larger, or if they’ll find another source if funding to keep the ball uphill for a little longer.

With the current tech, AGI is literally impossible. They believed scaling, clever architecture, and context window tricks would solve the issues of the current LLMs, but fundamentally diffusion and backpropagation cannot iteratively learn as they have no way to train during inference.

AI can only be as good as its available training. The only improvements have been clever ways to approach that asymptote, but no true work arounds. To get them to truly learn, would require algorithms better than diffusion and backpropagation, and those currently do not exist.

Agriculture is a low risk bet that is that reduces variability and isn’t all or nothing. Gambling is a high risk/reward zero-sum game.

We need a Stakeholder economy, not a Shareholder economy!

Current LLMs are limited by the fact that they can’t train during inference. i.e. They can’t learn. If we find something better than backpropagation or diffusion, then things are going to actually be different. At that point, the models would be able to compose ideas together instead of just predict the next token in sequence based on previous training.

Dyson swarms would be more feasible. Heat rejection on a sphere would give an engineer a complete meltdown.

They’ve been replying on Reddit and it hasn’t made them look better. They say they aren’t firing people and are just looking for people who can accelerate their work with LLMs. Like, sure buddy.
