You’re the best kind of spirit.
🙌 SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK 🙌
I completely get the relief when a loved one passes from a long health struggle. Everyone’s grief journey is different, and even mine was different between different family members’ passings. But for me all sorts of other complicated emotions continue to bubble up from time to time regarding my mom. The waves get further and further apart, but it may never completely go away. Sending you thoughts of support and comfort.
I looked up the old orders on Etsy but the sellers I used back then have since closed their shops.
He’s force feeding bird flu culled birds to his supporters to kick off another pandemic as an excuse to declare martial law? And they’re happily paying for the privilege.
I think your brain is telling you to take a break from doom scrolling.
I’m very sorry for what you’re going through. I got an urn for mom off of Etsy 5ish years ago. It was a wooden one with a tree of life carved into it.
Talk to some laser engravers on Etsy to see if their laser setup could accommodate the dimensions of an urn.
I’m only familiar with a Glowforge at the maker lab in my library, and the max clearance for items is only about an inch. So my workaround for that would be to have some thin pieces of wood and laser cut or etch that with your design, and laminate them to a plain wooden urn. I’d stain the laminate pieces a different color than the urn as well.
Or, can’t believe I didn’t think to mention this first…I had a brass plate laser etched (also from Etsy) with a labyrinth pattern that was significant to Mom. That’s also where I put her name and years. I affixed that to the top of the urn (the urn chamber was accessed via the bottom). Let me see if I can get you some pics in case it would help give you ideas.
I agree somewhat with your last 2 sentences, but their kids don’t deserve knowing hunger. Hungry kids don’t / can’t pay attention in school. And I know the future of our education system is circling the drain, but kids don’t deserve to be condemned for what their parents have done.
I’m way more disappointed.
If you have a Prime membership, you get 1 free Kindle book a month from a short list of “first reads” (some months you get a bonus title too).
I’ll also get on Libby and pull up my favorite categories and filter for available now.
To drop a dime on someone is to snitch.
A few did. They are then enshrined in the temple and worshiped (revered might be a better term?) as a living Buddha.
Semi-related, I listened to a podcast the other day that discussed sokushinbutsu where some Buddist monks would try to self-mummify themselves as a ritual to attain enlightenment. One of the steps involved Urushi tea which comes from the bark of the Urushi tree, or also known as the Japanese Varnish Tree, and the sap from this tree contains toxic and abrasive chemicals that can cause a rash similar to poison ivy. They would literally be itching on the inside and had to use mind over matter to ignore the extreme discomfort.
Except for the sensitive part where you can’t scratch too hard. 🤤😵💫🤤
The differential between high and low tides in Alaska is crazy to me. I’m used to only a few feet in the mid Atlantic.
From high tide this afternoon to the low tide going out right now, Juneau will have a 17 foot swing.
Full disclosure, I peeked at your comment history.
How about those phone mounts and maybe a neat 2-in-1 tripod/monopod for your binoculars? Or a shoulder sling?
Otherwise, my go-to is an experience like others suggested. Escape room, paint nite, afternoon of pool/ bowling/ mini golf, Top Golf, cooking class, museum visit, comedy night, hockey game, roller skating, hiking, music bingo/pub trivia, or consider a hotel room nearby for the night with an indoor pool or my absolute favorite…a cabin weekend with a hot tub and a real wood-burning fireplace.

Richard is such a dick.
Strange that this pretty mundane conversation formed a strong memory when I can’t remember what I ate for breakfast.
Sports was the first cassette I played so much that I wore it out. I was so happy when I found a cd of it.
