You said “I have already experienced true freedom of speech and I love it. I just want it to be more mainstream and more people to demand it”, and I pointed out that most people wouldn’t actually want it due to the problems outlined. The subset of people who like to be able to shout racist slurs at each other with impunity have their own sites for that, and I’m happy for them to be contained there.

I don’t want to be subjected to what you call “true freedom of speech” because it invariably ends up with the biggest arseholes shouting the loudest. I’m against government censorship but people should be able to choose who they want to listen to because there are a LOT of unmitigated dickheads out there.

I’ve found that dist upgrades themselves are fine, but it usually breaks something. Last time it was my janky WordPress installation which was using PHP 7.4. The wordpress version was up to date but it wouldn’t use the installed 8.2 php and just broke. In the end I installed a fresh wordpress and copied the data over.

I’ll always remember the scene from Extras with Ricky Gervais. Sure, he was an amazing actor, but it showed how effortlessly he could turn his hand to sublime comedy.
