Technology@lemmy.world•Solar Panels Are Now Producing So Much Power That They’re Leaving Nuclear Plants in the Dust: "Solar is now the engine of the power transition."English
1·2 days agoI don’t believe a decentralized grid is a good thing in most situations. In fact I think that’s extremely dangerous. So, we likely won’t find common ground there. I wont waste time trying to convince you otherwise.
The crux of your point seems to be that renewables should be the majority (excluding nuclear) and fuel based systems (including nuclear) should be the minority. If we take nuclear out of the equation I agree with you. I’m not anti renewables, I’ve spent my career working in various forms of generation, including oil, gas, comb cycle and hydro. My stance is that they all have a place, even gas and oil but especially nuclear.
Side note, the ethics of mining could be pointed at heavily for the current state of battery and solar pannel tech as well.

Im significantly better than you at this
You’re against using the phrase “be better” ? Because it’s overly reductive, lazy and lacks any real tangible call to action? Is that why?

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What minimum amount of money in your bank account would make you feel comfortable never working again?
01·4 days ago3 million USD. I’d still run my farm but I wouldn’t work my job job anymore. Just means I’d upscale the farm a small amount and give away a larger percentage of my products. 3 is genuinely low but I have very little debt as is and a reasonable lifestyle.

Oh boy that’s a rough one.
