Almost mentioned that but cut for brevity.
I thought ‘everyone’ learned this around the path of exile fiasco.

I mean that if someone is intelligent/educated/curious/enough of a mere science enjoyer if not well educated themselves,
to for instance, know that you need radiators to dump heat in space, how has that person not already noticed Elon Musk showing his ass?

World News@lemmy.world•Americans have said 'NO TO WAR,' Iran speaker says as Democrats take CongressEnglish
1·14 hours agoIt’s the subtext of every public comment made by Schumer criticising the war: Didn’t go through congress, erratic, no exit strategy.
Never a word against the myth-making to justify the war, or that the US shouldn’t be in an offensive war against a country that didn’t attack it.
No, it’s a costly embarrassment, a strategic blunder, an action taken without filling out the prerequisite forms in triplicate.
Going to war (successfully) with Iran has been an unrealised dream of the uniparty for decades.
I know everyone’s got a different set of filters but how does it take one until the cool things in space post to find out, if they’re curious enough to know of space radiators already?

1·2 days agoThere are people, it is true—nay, a great many people—who smile at such things, because they are not sensitive to noise; but they are just the very people who are also not sensitive to argument, or thought, or poetry, or art, in a word, to any kind of intellectual influence. The reason of it is that the tissue of their brains is of a very rough and coarse quality.

Meanwhile Dem leadership has a much more sensible position on the war: that Trump is doing it wrong.

2·3 days agoSomething surprisingly few people get about AI is if it had any intelligence at all it would surpass us blindingly fast, no matter the starting point.
It’s never going to be in the news that thinking machines got 23% smarter over the last month or three.
There’s an old comic I wish I could locate that has people standing at a train platform awaiting superintelligence. Nothing happens, then someone staring down the track says I think I see- whoosh and it’s already gone.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How soon until you think the riots and protests from Europe reach the USA?
12·4 days agoThe comment was on the fecklessness of the ‘resistance’, not downplaying the brutality of the established order.
Americans have been taught “the right way” to resist by their class enemies. At this rate they’ll frog-costume-dance all the way into the camps holding hands and chanting “this is the way”.

The standing around with banners is supposed to carry an implicit threat:
“Deal amicably with us peaceful protesters, or you’re going to have to deal with people taking direct action.”
We’ve been educated to misunderstand this.
