If the broader population is so retarded that their vote can be controlled by clankers on reddit to this extent, then democracy is a fundamentally flawed system.

Well the big plan is to replace it with Ai and world government later, so… Won’t be an issue. Who needs democracy when you have AI making the “best” decisions. :)

Any system ruled by humans is a flawed system. Which is why democracy must be ruled bottom-up and not top-down. And have more than one representative, on any level. And last but not least, good general education (which is why the fascist always start there).

I called this years ago (ruled by humans being flawed, not bottom-up democracy which IMO is a half-measure). AI is the only solution that can be better long-term than democracy. I do not, however, mean we should let Claude run society. We’d need actual AGI that doesn’t just get trained, but learns properly on its own without cheap tricks like writing memory files. It also shouldn’t be influenced by any individuals or organizations.

It’s really a pipe dream at this stage.

This is the elite wet dream, yes. Replace all pesky humans with machines, because “democracy doesn’t work”… Except it does work, if you have a unbiased media and an educated population.

Humans ruled by some AI that will never be influenced by humans will never happen. What if the Ai suggests things that are bad for the rulers of society? There will always be corrupt humans directing our systems, to stay rich and powerful.

Which means we need less technology, less machines, less surveillance, to have a society where humans can feel free and happy. Unlimited technology leads to dystopia for humans.

This is the elite wet dream, yes. Replace all pesky humans with machines

I’m proposing that the elite be replaced with machines. I’m not saying it’s easy, nor necessarily even possible, certainly not at the current level of technological and societal development.

Except it does work, if you have a unbiased media

There’s no such thing as truly unbiased media, it’s nearly impossible. Or are you proposing banning all media that isn’t state media? Private media will always have an agenda. Often so will state media though, and that can easily become even more dangerous.

            and an educated population.

Doesn’t work. Or are you going to force everyone into poli sci majors? Majority of Europe has free higher education and in most countries the far right has been on the rise again. Even plenty of educated people vote for those parties. Hell, I can tell you that many of the people IN those parties, at least in my country, have degrees one might consider relevant to good governance (history, law, etc) and yet they spew hate.

What if the Ai suggests things that are bad for the rulers of society?

The idea is that the AI has to be the ruler of society and nobody else can have power over it. It also involves developing perfect AI first. I did say it was a pipe dream, didn’t I?

There will always be corrupt humans directing our systems, to stay rich and powerful.

It goes without saying that the existence of private property is part of that plan. The AI would decide who needs how much resources. The book you’ve named yourself after is kind of relevant, but the inner party still consisted of humans and they had ulterior motives. As O’brian himself said, the party’s ultimate goal was nothing other than just the control itself. The AI would have to have an ultimate goal of maximum human happiness, freedom and longevity, as much as possible without giving people freedom to have power over others.

Which means we need less technology, less machines, less surveillance, to have a society where humans can feel free and happy.

Doesn’t work either, unless society is fewer than 100 people or so. Above that we start developing these nasty things called hierarchies. Rulers and such. No human rulers can be allowed to exist if we want a truly just society. Impartial, completely neutral humans don’t exist. Democracy doesn’t work because voters can be swayed and BDFLs are just that, FL. They die and the next one might not be very B, but will be just as D if not moreso.

Right and wrong are just words. What matters is what you do.

(I just watched that episode of Futurama where Bender was God and it’s a perfectly fitting analogy here, I think).

Firstly, your proposal requires a perfect and noble system. There’s two major problems right there…one in developing a perfect system, and the other in defining what “noble” actually means.

What’s good for one may be bad for another. In often cases it is, especially under a capitalist system where we are made to compete directly with each other.

An example…my box of Kellog’s Raisin Bran says, on the back, “Cereal makes eating well easy”. I misread it at first and thought it said “cereal makers eating well”, and pondered about that for a moment.

As a consumer, we don’t want cereal makers eating well. I mean, we say we do, but our actions prove otherwise. Consumers are disincentivised from the cereal makers (as in the grain farmers) eating well, because that means a more expensive product, which is money out of their pockets, which now means they are eating less well than they would have. We are subconsciously at war with our peers.

Remember, every religion has a zionist faction. they fight each other but when threatened by outsiders they all work together. The Zionist Jews in WW2 actively aided the Nazis in order to push the surviving Jews to their side, while the Nazis agreed because it made it easier to remove Jews from their vile Aryan empire.

In ancient history, the Crusades were just Zionist Christians (with Zionist Jews as allies) against Zionist Muslims. Which was stupid because they were all of the same faith… just different factions. Christians are just Jews that accept “Jesus” as a prophet and divine entity (aka a second god while gaslighting the world and themselves into saying they only worship one god). Jews stick to worshipping one god. Muslims are basically just Christians that accept 2 prophets (Jesus and Mohammed) while saying that neither are divine. which pisses off Christians who worship their not-god-god Jesus while also pissing off the Jews who refuse to recognize either of the prophets.

In Modern days: Christianity has a bunch of Zionist factions. – They fund MAGA and rose to power twice in the last 100 years. Once in Nazi Germany through Hitler (despite him being of Jewish descent) and the other in the USA during Trump’s presidency with his avid support.

Muslims have their well known terrorist groups. – which were all funded by or founded by the CIA to fight Russia. that really bit USA in the ass when the Muslim groups realized that the CIA (and the USA) were never going to honor their promises. que 9/11.

Jews have the Israeli Genocide Force. which they claim defends them from Palestine. Before and during WW2 the Palestinians welcomed the Jews (who were fleeing persecution) with open arms. then were rewarded with Jews being given Palestinian land and an 80 year long genocide by the very people they helped protect from Nazi enforced genocide. talk about the “scorpion stinging the frog” story in real life. Jews of Israel being the Scorpion in the story and Palestinians being the Frog in the Story.

Buddhists and Hindus have their own conflicts but they tend to just fight each other away from the western world with only a few stories making their way onto USA news. and most of those are when they get into conflicts with Muslim Zionists.

We need a per fighter number comparing international aid to Ukraine against Iranian aid to the Houthis. I’d actually be surprised if the numbers were far off based on the size of the AFU and the difficulty the Houthis must have in getting arms after Russia turned off the tap to the black market.

I’m pretty sure 2024 was about the racism. The price of eggs was an excuse so they didn’t have to admit it was the racism.

We’re still guessing, but there were a lot of factors at play in the 2026 Midterms blue typhoon. Yes, runaway inflation, the affordability crisis and the global energy crisis felt at home were all large factors.

Curiously – and this brings me hope – open corruption and self-dealing by the Trump family and Republican pay-to-play politics was also a large factor. People are really vocal about it.

Weaponization of government departments, like the DoJ going after political enemies or state election boards, was a factor.

ICE and the concentration camps are a factor, though not as much as it really should be. This motivated the Latin flip.

After the gutting of the VRA and the southern-state gerrymanders, the US Black vote responded Oh, HELL NO!

The broken MAGA promises, the still-elusive Epstein files, the war in Iran after a promise of no more forever wars, pushed some MAGA true believers to the fringes of their movement. They just failed to show.

I don’t think so. Yes, the US is very racist in a lot of ways, but the reason Harris lost was because the Biden admin failed to do anything to substantially improve anyone’s life, and she didn’t appear credibly different. Biden was elected purely over dissatisfaction with Trump, but that wasn’t enough for a second win. We are in the same place right now. Dems won on dissatisfaction, but they’ll need to deliver results to win again in 2028.

We already had a term with Trump, and knew how that worked out. On the campaign trail, Trump also said what he intended to do. His dictator for a day fantasies made his malevolence super clear. His promises were entirely implausible. (E.g. I Will end the Ukraine conflict in the first week.)

And then there was project 2025 which described how the Republican party planned to dismantle federal regulatory bodies and neuter federal elections.

No. They said so. #IVotedForThis — They wanted to see brown children back in cages again. They wanted a Schutzstaffel to disappear the undesirables. They didn’t care the patrician class was going to plunder the US treasury and its credit.

Of the severity-seven million American voters in who chose Trump, hundreds, maybe might be ignorant idiots, but most of them were malevolent. They still are.

To be fair, they’re also under the influence of a massive far-right propaganda machine that dominates social media and television viewership. FOX News uses the same brainwashing techniques that were used on US soldiers in Korea.

I understand the Democratic party postmortem suggested it was more benign issues, (trans athletes) but then I’m pretty sure that part of the party is captured and controlled opposition. They have cause to present a biased analysis.

Nobody cares about trans athletes. Harris lost because she never touched important stuff. Yes most of the people agree that abortion should be right of every woman. NO this is NOT an issue that will sway their votes one way or another. Average US citizen doesn’t care about war in Ukraine. But they do care about Epstein files. And all they got from Biden was 5 years of silence.

Trump’s base are low-information, low-education voters. The rest of Americans should have actually seen Trump is a monster and should not be entrusted with power.

To be fair, most Democrats polled identify as moderate or centrist Democrats but then they agree with the main DSA positions that moderate Democratic officials stand against.

To paraphrase something that Jamelle Bouie recently said, The American people voted in a madman. And they’re going to have to collectively ask themselves some difficult questions about their intent, and even their capacity to self-govern.

I have every reason to be pessimistic.

They did. 1/3 of eligible voters chose hate and rascim. 1/3 said said anyone but Trump. And almost all of the remaining 1/3 saw the same racist pedophile who straight up told us what he was going to do. They looked at the malevolent evil he represented, weighed out the pros and cons of him being reelected and rather than vote against him, they decided that him winning was acceptable.
If that 1/3 of the country had voted for anyone else, then you might be able to say that they just couldn’t agree on who to vote for, and didn’t like her politics or the Biden administration or whatever. But that’s not what they did. They decided that what he represented was acceptable.

You don’t just find that level of hate ”acceptable" without having enough of your own hate to make it not seem that bad.

Just goes to show you that when an administration screws up this big that the other side can win at like 53 to like 44 in certain places.
